In preparation for GOING ON THE AIR ON AUGUST 7th a recording facility has been installed at the Ames Pantorium. The oak desk has been provided by the Ames Historical Society. KHOI will go on the air with as many local voices as possible - including yours! Do you have a story or information we can record? Can we interview you? Do you have an interview you would like to conduct and record, yourself?
Be part of KHOI's inaugural sound. Schedule a session at 292-2878 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Someone is here at the Pantorium to help you or interview you Tuesdays - Fridays from 1 to3 PM and Monday - Tuesdays from 7 to 9 PM.
For those of you who like such things:
Our recording and editing desk consists of a Lexicon 8-channel mixer which feeds into a Dell computer. The computer has three different software suites for recording and editing sound files: Adobe Audition, Audacity, and Cubase.
With ten microphones, loads of cables and connectors, and skilled operators, we have the capability of recording up to ten discrete channels of high-quality audio.
After a recording session, we can use the desk to "clean up" the audio and edit the session into a finished production-ready file for broadcasting as well as streaming from our website.
