Former FCC commissioner Nicholas Johnson spends an evening with us, to discuss the state of independent media.

Nicholas Johnson was a pioneering Federal Communications Commissioner from 1966-1973, where he championed local media and public-access television. He recently retired from teaching communications and cyberlaw at the University of Iowa College of Law, and is the author of several books, including How to Talk Back to Your Television Set, his most recent, Columns of Democracy, and a Gazette column, “The Media, Under Siege.”
