Tuba Christmas is an exciting, family-friendly seasonal event that takes place throughout the nation and in Ames.

A 250 pound deer crashed through the window into an apart in Ames. Hear all about this event, and general information about wildlife and wildlife control from Ames Animal Control Supervisor Ron Edwards.

Susan Gwiasda, Public Relations Officer for the City of Ames gives the latest information about welcoming the new members of the City Council, and the new Ames mayor, and also about the reception for the outgoing mayor and council members.

Bernard McDonald, Associate Professor of Music at Simpson College in Indianola, IA will be guest conductor for the Central Iowa Symphony (CIS) this month for the December concert. "Rapture, Rage, and Revelry" will be performed on Saturday December 2 at 7:30 PM in City Auditrium, 515 Clark Avenue. To prepare for Thanksgiving we sat around the table in our studio with storytellers Dan Bagley and Patrician Coffie talking about memories of Thanksgiving and its foods.  ​After several servings of turkey and ham with plenty of gravy here in central Iowa​, we turned to jazz with Louis Armstrong complaining to Velma Middleton of "All That Meat and No Potatoes."  To bring ou​r feast t​o ​​2017​,​ we went to the viral YouTube Hip Hop Thanksgiving song, "Grandma: What Are You Cooking for Thanksgiving?" by  Pastor Shirley Ceaser -- you can see here. We ended the show ​with a Thanksgiving Prayer​ by​ Johnny Cash.

Bloody Run Creek, Music and Disease, Jobs in Story County

A meeting is planned to be held in Elkader Iowa to discuss plans being made, to build a 10,000 head cattle feed lot in the watershed for Bloody Run Creek, a cold water trout stream North of Dubuque. Environmentalist author Larry Stonediscusses the water qualities issues that are involved. Stone was an outdoor writer and photographer for the Des Moines Register and is author of many environmentalist books including Listen to the Land, Citizen of the Natural World, and Gladys Black: The Legacy of Iowa’s Bird Lady, and Iowa: Portrait of the Land

Patricia Izbicki,  graduate student in neuroscience at Iowa State has recently been recognized as an Iowa Woman of Innovation by the TechnologyAssociation of Iowa, one of ten women so recognized. She is researching  , how music affects the human brain, nervous system, and various diseases . She explains her research, together with her major professor, Dr. Elizabeth Stegemoller.

Brenda Dryer, Director of Workforce Solutions at the Ames Chamberof Commerce, announces the Story County job fair and discusses employment/unemployment rates in Story County.
