Reporter Greta Anderson continues the conversation about Ames's rental housing crisis in an interview with Ames's new Director of Planning and Housing, Kelly Diekmann. Kelly comes from municipal planning jobs in high-density Silicon Valley, where there is no place for cities to grow but from inside their existing limits. Diekmann reflects on the character of Ames, the new demographics and generational demands that will make change inevitable. We discuss trailer parks, Roosevelt school, "cookie cutter" development and bicycling to work as well as the hard work of literally mapping out an agenda that will make Ames more inclusive in the future.
