Foxy Jaxson: First Nation Farmer Climate Unity March

Iowa farmers were forced to surrender their land through eminent domain to the Dakota Access pipeline. Three Iowa farmers, Keith Putenney, Arlene Bates, and Lavern Johnson relate how the installation of the pipeline has affected their land, which to them is both livelihood and legacy.

These three landowners are part of a larger group of Iowa landowners who are suing the Iowa Utility Board and the Dakota Access. The Iowa Sierra Club has joined their lawsuit.

On September 12, 2018 Iowa landowners along with Native American indigenous activists stand together as their case is brought before the Iowa supreme court.

Foxy Jaxson is a Native American, originally from Oakland CA, who was educated about pipelines when she joined the resistance against the DAPL Pipeline at Standing Rock Reservation. She came to Iowa to join a 95 mile foot march to protest the pipeline. She describes her journey and how the problems Iowa landowners have connects to people suffering in other parts of the country.
