KHOI broadcasts a recording of the city council and mayoral candidate forum that AMOS hosted on Monday, October 14 from 7 to 8:30 at United Church of Christ, 217-6th Street. AMOS (A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy) is a non-profit organization made up of 28 member non-profits, many of them churches, in the Des Moines-Ames area.
The AMOS Affordable Housing group is the specific task force within Ames that questioned the candidates regarding the AMOS agenda (drawn up through local discussion) to make affordable housing a priority in Ames. Those concerned with this issue heard how the candidates responded to new priorities of affordability (including a "kids ride free" bus policy). Their motto: if you work here, you oughta be able to live here.
