- 4 tsp. unflavored gelatin
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons real (not imitation) vanilla extract
In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 1/2 cup milk; let stand until the gelatin is softened, about 5 minutes. In a large saucepan, combine all the milk, heavy cream and sugar. Add vanilla extract. Bring cream mixture and gelatin just to a simmer (do not let it boil), whisking well until sugar has completely dissolved; remove from heat.. Pour into molds, custard cups or into a flat glass pan. Refrigerate and y0u may serve it as soon as it is set, firm and wiggley to the touch.
