We Are Family

Partly inspired by the lead article in the June 2013 Atlantic magazine, Kay Puttock talks to a variety of people who are evolving new styles of relationship and family life. She talks to a committed couple who have chosen to stay together after the husband has come out as gay; a young father who believes strongly in sharing the joys and responsibilities of child rearing; a straight college student who grew up in a household with two mothers; and a man who's been married to another man for six year, and together with him for thirty years before marriage.

New KHOI Studio Coming Soon!

October 21, 2013 - 3:20pm -- ron

KHOI has been hard at work preparing for a new studio. Funds are mostly raised and the design is drawn out; all that is left is construction, which is set to start soon. Plans include a live broadcast area and two recording studios projected to be complete before the end of the year. The main broadcast studio will be larger than a commercial radio station’s studio; the goal is to create a broadcast space that is community-friendly.

Climate Change

How people in Ames are thinking about Climate Change. That’s a pretty overwhelming topic and everyone knows something about it and has an opinion. So we’re sampling some of those opinions and some of the thinking behind them. Our purpose is to inform and to stimulate your thinking. We hope that this will raise some questions as well as give you a chance to look at some things in a new way.
