County Reporters Jim Werbel and Susan Franzen took a road trip to Huxley to talk with Ballard High School Principal John Ronca and Industrial Technology teacher Nick Steenhagen about the High School Industrial Technology program, then went to KREG Tool Company to learn from President and CEO Todd Sommerfeld why he gave the program a $60,000 grant. To continue that conversation about providing job seekers with skills for jobs in advanced technology we called Kimberlee Gregory, program manager of Project Iowa. For further perspective KHOI’s “Blue Collar Philosopher,” Lance Sumpter, joined us to tell his story. We closed out the hour by reading selections from Jon Lloyd’s article in the Boone New Republican about Larry Dau’s first place photo award in the 2014 Orscheln Farm & Home Wildlife Photo Contest.
