crust:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
Cream butter and sugar. Beat until fluffy. Stir in flour.
Spread in the bottom of an 8 x 8 pan. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 25 minutes.
Take out of the oven and cool slightly.

topping:
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon slat
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1-1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or other)
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla<
Mix dry ingredients. Beat eggs and vanilla. Fold in the rest. Put on top of the baked crust. Put back in the oven and bake until brown and puffy. Cool on rack.
A favorite family recipe from my mom. Sweet, gooey and a big hit with who ever you share it with. You can reduce the amount sugar called for in this recipe if you like and/or substitute a non-gluten flour.
