Rezoning Lincoln Way, Leadership Ames

On this Monday, June 18th edition of Local Talk, host Sequan Gatlin reported on state-wide news from the pages of the Des Moines Register as well as this week's weather forecast.

KHOI intern Marie McCarthy interviewed Julie Slaughter and Vitalij Pecharsky from the Ames Laboratory about how magnetic refrigeration is a future solution for energy conservation. Maggie Westvold co-hosted the segment.

Kelly Diekmann, City of Ames Planning and Housing Director, joined our host to discuss how rezoning Lincoln Way impacts the community in the Downtown Gateway Focus Area. We also heard from Laura Cram, owner of Laura's Cabinet Gallery, voicing her concerns with the new zoning laws. City Council will further discuss rezoning Lincoln Way next Tuesday during the City Hall meeting starting at 6 pm.

Andrea Hammes Dodge spoke with Gale Seiler and Sequan Gatlin about Leadership Ames, a program sponsored by the Ames Chamber of Commerce. Two alumni of the program participated in the conversation of the importance of leadership and community involvement. The application for Class 32 of the program can be found here.
