Following Leanne Harter's monthly report of adaptations being made in Story County offices and parks made necessary by the Derecheo and COVID-19, Chad Hart, Extension Grain Market Specialist, joined us. He spoke with us not only about the catastrophic damage to corn and soybeans, but also how crop prices in other states and markets in Mexico and China will affect the Iowa farm economy throughout the year. Following this revealing information we had a follow up from the program on Monday (August 10 -- the morning that the Derecheo hit our area) when we heard from an organization called Iowans for a Safer Return for Learning. On their Facebook page they featured a video called "Science is Real-Ask the Experts!" We closed out the last half of our program with significant excerpts from that presentation.
