Thanksgiving Conversation

As hosts Gina McAndrews and Susan Franzen gathered with today's guests, we discovered that they had all worked together in the past, so our interview became a conversation. Policy Manager for Center for Rural Affairs, told us about legislation in the Farm Bill that will help small town businesses, including increasing the number of small meat packing plants.  Founder/leader of Mustard Seed Farm, Alice McGary, described the diverse crops and activities at the farm, as well as reminding us of the Native American heritage of Thanksgiving. And finally Mary Swander, poet-laureate of Iowa, told us about the very personal story of her cancer treatment with Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, subject of her newly released biography, "The Maverick MD."
