Local Talk featured a story from Chris Adkins, Dallas County Conservation Board about big trees. People with trees that were destroyed last August in the derecho winds are encouraged to bring remembrances of lost trees to the Kuehn Conservation Area. There are big hollow tree receptacles to collect the memorabilia. The keepsake items will then be burnt in a Spring Equinox fire March 21. Also Dallas CCB is documenting big trees to locate and honor throughout the county this spring. There will be workshops on planting trees with an emphasis on native trees.
