Lisa Heddens, Story County Supervisor, gave the monthly Story County Report before we previewed the Ames events for Juneteenth (Saturday, June 18th) aswell as its history, from Vern Hawkins, interim chair of the Ames Branch of the NAACP. The festivities in Ames, as well as throughout the region, feature Black culture and businesses, so we highlighted one of our former guests, Liberian immigrant, Love Temah, opening a boutique in the Merle Hay Mall, Al Womble, chair of the Iowa Black Democratic Caucus gave us an update of how Black candidates fared in the recent Primaries. We also had a report from Ankeny Pride events.
