Local Talk for Friday, June 17, 2022 started with a summary of the week’s news from the Ames Tribune by Dennis Hart. 

Mark Harris, friend to KHOI provided an excellent fundraising pitch.  Thank you Mark for all your troubleshooting computer issues and all that you contribute to the station!

Susan Gwiasda, Public Relations Officer for the City of Ames encouraged people to be conscientious when it comes to energy needs during peak energy hours.  Delaying laundry until the night-time is one suggestion.  Also, a Community Garden dedication is planned for 5PM June 29th at Delaware and North Dakota Drive.  Housing Coordinator Vanessa Baker-Latimer gave a brief history about Juneteenth Holiday to be observed tomorrow Saturday, June 18 at 3PM at the Bandshell.  Wayne Clinton will provide the keynote to quite a celebration that is planned.

Amber Wingert, with ISU Extension invited new Regional Director for Story County, Donovan Olson to talk about his career and goals as Regional Director for Story County Extension.  Extension Offices are located at 1421 S.
