Hosts Cynthia McClure and Susan Franzen spoke with people from Nevada about three very different types of vehicles in their community which are finding productive reuses after being retired or discarded:
- Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald explains the local use of the army surplus MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle recently acquired by the Story County Sheriff’s Department
- Melissa Spencer and Kay Feldman tell the story of the 1963 fire engine given to Story County Responders Care by the Huxley fire department to become a “pink fire engine”
- Richard Attwell describes how he collects hundreds of discarded bikes each year for reuse around the world with Chicago based "Working Bikes." Marie Akerman tells the international side of this story.
