Leanne Harter, Outreach and Special Projects Manager started the show with the Story County Report announcing several end-of-year deadlines. Then Carolyn and John Klaus announced "Empowering Women Worldwide," a lecture by Distinguished Professor Cornelia Flora on Nov. 18 sponsored by the Story County League of Women Voters, and Arlen Twedt described his presentation for Geneology Plus about his books on "The Central Iowa Norwegians''.

Local Talk for Friday, November 12, 2021 began with Dennis Hart news summary for this week from pages of Ames Tribune. Native American Heritage Month was featured with Dallas Chief Eagle presenting to a crowd at Prairie Awakening in Dallas County. He used a meditation technique of honoring and focusing on a Grandmother and Grandfather rock. The hour concluded with a phenology concerning Bobcats. Joni Mitchell's music and 78th birthday this week was featured with a live version of Both Sides Now.
Iowa Arboretum and Small Town Groceries
Today's show started with a road trip to the Iowa Arboretum where Mark Schneider director of the Arboretum described the work of cleaning up after the Derecheo and how the downed trees had been creatively used . Then we visited the newly opened Jewell Market and spoke with Garren Zanker. We drove down to Town and Country Market in Slater, where we talked with Larry Larson owner of the grocery store for thirty-six years. [the link is attached to a YouTube video on this issue]. Paul Wierson ended the show by telling what it was like when Story City lost its full service grocery store.

When crews are not responding to emergencies, routine maintenance and system upgrades that are happening all year. Mike also encourages those thinking of potential jobs to consider employment as an electric line worker.
