Co-hosts Greta Anderson and Sandra Looft celebrate Children's Book Week with discussions of favorite childhood books and book memories with librarians around the county, an interview of Huxley mom Sarah Miller, who started a "Baby Book Club", and a peak into Little Free Libraries. They are joined by Jennifer Hansen, the "publisher mom" behind Story-Boone Macaroni Kids, a blog compiling all of the kids' and family activities in the area, including a comprehensive guide to local summer camps. Cynthia McClure talks to Ames-based neurologist Dr. David Moore about the complications surrounding the passage of a law by the Iowa Legislature enabling use of cannabis oil for refractory epilepsy patients.

Then, Greta Anderson interviews Ames musician Paul Doffing about the Ames Bicycle Coalition, which he helped found, and the Bike-to-Work Week events it has lined up this week, including the kickoff to Paul's "Freedom from Fuel" tour this Friday, May 16, at DG's Tap House. Paul plays two lovely songs and laughs at our jokes.

VEISHEA Task Force

The ISU Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Thomas Hill, was appointed by ISU President Leath's office to lead a 20-person VEISHEA Task Force to make recommendations for the future of the event. VEIESHA, Iowa State University's long-standing Spring festival highlighting the university, its students, and faculty, was cancelled this past Spring after public vandalism and a critical injury occurred a few days prior to the festival.
