Dennis Keeney was with us to talk about his autobiography "The Keeney Place" which was just released last month. Dennis carried his story from a lively description of the life of a farm boy in the 1940s and 50s through university training in scientific agriculture that led him to become the first director of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. Cornelia Flora was also in the studio to carry forward reflections about the significance of sustainable agriculture and prospects for the road ahead. Later in the program Erv Klaas joined us to discuss Aldo Leopold and "The Land Ethic," part of the event "Ames Reads Leopold", March 2:00 - 5:00 PM, at the Ames Public Library.
Marty Miller concluded the program with an introduction to the music of The Harmaleighs, who will be in concert at the Pantorium on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00 PM.
Guest journalist Lauris Olson previews the Theologian in Residence program that will be happening on February 28 at the Ames United Church of Christ. This program started in 1984. Over the years, most of the theologians have specialized in the words of religion. This year, they are experts in the music giving workshops on music.

KHOI Intern Jazmin Murguia interviews two ISU students about the festivities surrounding the holiday: Cindy Le, a Vietnamese-American student, and Han Xiao Hu, a Chinese student who helped organize this year's Chinese New Year celebration at ISU. Then, we are visited by two young jazz musicians from Ames High School, Jonah DeGeest and Patrick Jasper. They will perform with the Ames High Jazz Bands at the Ames High School this Thursday.

They interviewed Carolyn Duven, one of the directors, and Olivia Gard, an actor in the play, who spoke about what the play means to them personally and the V-Day movement to raise awareness about violence against women.

Local singer-songwriter Jen McClung gives us a special concert for the days before Valentine's. The songs are mostly her own, (including her signature "dark love songs") but she ends with the Leonard Cohen song "Dance Me to the End of Love" because, she says, "It's the sexiest song that I know."

That was followed by Lauris Olson's interview with Penny Brown Huber, executive director of Prairie Rivers of Iowa about implementation of the recently released plan to improve conditions in the Squaw Creek Watershed. Susan V. Duke then described how she wrote "Skunk River Tales: Mystery in the Park', a book involving Story City youth .
KHOI correspondent Jim Werbel looked into the idea of entrepreneurship of partners and married couples in business together, otherwise known as copreneurs. He interviewed Gary and Karen Youngberg, the Creators and owners of Ames Silversmithing. Jim also interviewed the creators and owners of Arcadia Coffee, also located in Ames, Ryan Jeffrey and Liz Naylor.
