Ospreys

 

Ospreys are a very large black and white bird like an eagle. Since European settlement in Iowa during mid 19th century, there were no documented reports of Ospreys nesting in Iowa. This all changed in 2003 due to concerted efforts of conservation minded Iowans. Learn about the rejuvenation of this fish-eating raptor to the skies of Iowa.

Campustown Redevelopment

 

KHOI follows the unfolding story of redevelopment along Lincoln Way, in Campus town, which signifies a substantial point of departure for one of the two original business districts in Ames.

Kingland Systems describes itself as a software and services company headquartered in Clear Lake. They opened their offices in Ames in 2001 and moved to Campus town in 2005 into the old New Ames Theater Building and employ a large number if ISU students on a part time basis.

KHOI Local Talk Goes Live

KHOI’s Local Talk program can now be heard live! Tune in at 7:00 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings to hear volunteer reporters interview other community members about local events, stories, and topics. This is the first talk program to go live at KHOI; with more to come when the production studio is completed.

Thanksgiving Dinner

 

Changes at the First Christian Church, ACPC, Good Neighbor and Performance by Co'Motion

This show centered on the First Christian church at 6th and Clark, home of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, hosted this year by Food at First. We heard from ACPC (Ames Community Preschool Center) just leaving the church for larger space elsewhere, and from Good Neighbor, which will return to downtown in the space vacated by ACPS. The show closed with a preview of “Story Time” by Dance Co’Motion.

Transgender Week

 

Transgender Week begins November 11-17 and Transgender day is November 20. Transgender day is a day of remembrance for violence and discrimination against transgender individuals.

Ellen (Ellie) Krug will be presenting her story at the Octagon Center in Ames on November 20th from 11:30-1pm and at 8pm ISU Sun Room, Memorial Union.
